Two Features. One Standard of Craftsmanship.

Iron Staircases and Arbors Built to Turn Heads

A staircase can be the centerpiece of a home, and an arbor can transform an ordinary entryway into something memorable. We shape both with the same dedication to detail, blending structural engineering with ornamental artistry. Many homeowners pair these features with an iron driveway gate for a fully coordinated look. A sweeping spiral and a vine-covered garden arch each get the same hands-on approach, drawn, measured, and hand-fabricated to fit your space and style.

Spiral Staircases with Real Presence

A custom metal spiral staircase saves floor space while making a bold visual statement. We shape every curve and baluster by hand, balancing a tight footprint with smooth, safe movement between floors.

Design That Starts with You

Good custom staircase design begins with a conversation, not a catalog. We study your space, traffic flow, and taste before a single piece of iron gets shaped or welded.

Garden Arbors with Old-World Charm

Our iron garden arbors frame entryways, walkways, and garden beds with timeless scrollwork. Climbing vines look right at home against hand-forged iron built to hold up outdoors.

Arbors Built to Your Vision

Every one of our custom metal arbors is sized and styled around your landscape. A wedding venue and a quiet backyard reading nook each call for their own distinct look.

Our Design and Build Process

Great ironwork starts long before the first weld. Our team comes to your property, learns about your vision, and sketches concepts that balance beauty with everyday practicality, right down to the smallest decorative detail, so nothing is left to guesswork once fabrication begins.

Every piece is then fabricated entirely in-house at our Birmingham shop. Nothing is outsourced, which means the same hands that draft your design also shape, weld, and finish the final product, keeping quality consistent at every stage from the earliest sketch to the last coat of finish.

Many clients also add a garden gate installation near a side yard or garden entrance, tying the whole property together with one consistent style that carries through every piece of ironwork on the property.

10/22: It was 30 years ago that I first used Ensley Iron for interior railings throughout my 3-story home, as well as deck railings. Danny, the owner/operator, was most professional and their work was EXCELLENT! (All the railings are still in like-new condition!!).

Now, 30 years later, I took a chance that they were still in business because I needed more exterior railings, as well as a driveway gate. Imagine my surprise to find Ensley Iron (and Danny) still in business! And now I have had the pleasure of dealing with them again, with the same high quality result!!! You CANNOT go wrong using Ensley Iron for all your wrought iron needs! Perfection!

Danny and his crew recently installed fencing for us. It was not an easy project - fencing and gates under a deck and stairs and around an uneven old rock garage foundation. They brought good ideas, measured, made drawings, and measured again before fabricating. The installation was done carefully, professionally, and timely. After a couple of months living with the work, I am still very pleased.

I need a lot more than 5 stars to describe Danny and his team! They are that outstanding! Danny is one of the nicest, customer-focused people you could ever hope to meet, and he and his team are true, old-world-style craftsmen in every sense of the word. From initial consultation through design, fabrication, and delivery, EOI cannot be beat. Thank you all for a phenomenal job producing my beautiful drive gate. I could not be more pleased!

After researching several companies in the area for fabricating our railings, I settled on Danny and Ensley Ornamental Iron. He came out personally to measure all sections, and once he arrived I knew I'd absolutely made the right decision. He kept me updated throughout the build and when the install crew arrived they displayed professionalism and care throughout the installation. Our new railings are expertly crafted and our cottage porch looks fantastic. We couldn't be more pleased and are customers for life!
